Audriana’s interest in chemistry and biology began in junior high, and from an early stage she aspired to become a doctor. Pinehurst School provided the ideal environment to nurture that ambition – combining academic rigor with a strong culture of character development and community engagement. During Grade 10, Audriana began researching medical school pathways in New Zealand and quickly learned how competitive admission to the University of Auckland’s medical programme would be. With clear goals in mind, she worked diligently through Pinehurst’s rigorous A Level curriculum, steadily building the knowledge, discipline, and resilience needed to pursue medicine at the highest level.
Academically, Audriana consistently excelled in Chemistry, Biology, and two additional A Level subjects. The depth and intensity of Pinehurst’s programme strengthened her scientific understanding and sharpened her critical thinking – skills that later proved invaluable in the demanding university pre-med environment. In Grade 12, she also took the initiative to self-study for the UCAT, demonstrating the independence and self-management that Pinehurst encourages in its students. Supported by strong teaching and a high-achieving academic culture, Audriana developed a solid foundation that prepared her to transition confidently into university-level study.
When Audriana entered the University of Auckland’s first-year pre-med programme, the benefits of her Pinehurst education became immediately evident. While many students found the pace and academic expectations challenging, Audriana was able to thrive. She achieved an outstanding GPA of 8.75/9.00 and performed strongly in the UCAT, earning an invitation to the highly selective Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). She prepared thoroughly, dedicating herself to developing thoughtful responses and communicating clearly and confidently – and was ultimately accepted into the University of Auckland’s highly competitive medical programme.
Just as importantly, Audriana’s journey reflects not only academic excellence, but also the caring character and community-minded spirit that are essential qualities in a future doctor – and a critical element assessed in the MMI process. Pinehurst School played a significant role in this aspect of her development as well, providing ample opportunities and encouragement for students to contribute meaningfully to the school and wider community. Over a number of years, Audriana actively embraced these opportunities through consistent volunteering and service. She participated in initiatives such as the Gardening Club and volunteer groups, and helped organize charity fundraising activities, including events supporting the Citizenship Council. In recognition of her sustained service and positive impact, she received a Rotary Community Contribution Award – a meaningful acknowledgement of her compassion, leadership, and commitment to helping others.
Audriana’s success story is a powerful example of what Pinehurst School strives to cultivate: outstanding academic foundations, confidence in independent learning, and a genuine sense of responsibility toward the community. Her achievement – earning admission to one of New Zealand’s most competitive medical programmes – reflects both her dedication and the strength of the Pinehurst educational experience in preparing students to succeed academically and grow into capable, caring global citizens.
