At Pinehurst College, life is about much more than lessons and grades. Every day brings new opportunities to get involved, connect, and discover your strengths—whether you’re competing on the sports field, leading a team, joining a club, or simply making lifelong friends. Our dynamic learning environment, strong support systems, and inclusive community ensure that every student can thrive. Our pastoral care approach combines personal relationships with evidence-based tools like Komodo—so every student’s wellbeing is supported, informed, and proactive.

College life at Pinehurst is packed with opportunities to get involved, from sports teams and music ensembles to leadership, service, and special interest clubs. Camps, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and interhouse events—like athletics, POD Challenges, and Waiata competitions—build confidence and school spirit. Students also join in with cultural days, enterprise projects, overseas trips, and national celebrations. There’s always something new to experience and enjoy.

A strong sense of community is at the heart of College life. PODs connect students from Years 9–13, building friendships and leadership across year groups. Buddy Classes link College and Primary for shared activities each term, while a huge range of clubs and interschool opportunities help students grow their skills and networks. It’s a place where belonging and friendship last well beyond graduation.

Pinehurst College encourages every student to lead, from class councillors and monitors in Year 7 to senior roles like Prefects and House Captains in Year 13. Leadership is more than a title—students take part in shaping school culture, events, and new initiatives, both formally and informally.

Leadership appointments involve applications, interviews, and peer voting, with final decisions by the School Leadership Team. Students also mentor others in PODs, lead clubs and teams, and represent Pinehurst in service and co-curricular activities. At every step, student voice is valued and respected.

College students enjoy a dynamic programme shaped by the Cambridge curriculum, with specialist teachers in every subject. As students move up, they’re guided to find their passions—choosing from

a wide range of academic pathways, hands-on sciences, languages, creative arts, and digital technology. Classes are kept small, and extra support or challenge is always available. Learning is practical, engaging, and designed to prepare students for their next step—whether that’s university, work, or the wider world.

Wellbeing is central at Pinehurst College. Our pastoral care includes Deans, PODs, SENCOs, Learning Support, and a qualified counsellor. With Komodo Wellbeing, students can easily check in and access support when needed. Open communication and the Pinehurst Triangle partnership help every student feel known, cared for, and ready to thrive—both at school and in life.
