Successful Cambridge International Examination (CIE) Results
Pinehurst School celebrates examination success with students achieving the best overall CIE results to date.
The 2012 October-November round of Cambridge International Examination (CIE) results, which were announced last week, showcased Pinehurst A Level students achieving an outstanding 99% pass rate.
As one of the few schools in New Zealand which requires all students to sit exclusively Cambridge examinations, Pinehurst students continuously achieve world-class results, proving each year that all students, regardless of ability, can accomplish CIE.
Executive Principal Ms Sherida Penman Walters is extremely proud of the results school wide.
“In the Primary, Year 6 results are all above World average [for English speaking students] as are our Year 9 results in Maths, English and Science. As well as exceptional results gained by individual students, the combined results for each Year 9, 11, 12 and 13 cohorts have continued to improve.”
Ms Penman Walters explains that the school is also very pleased for many students who sit ‘in the middle’ who had great results and significantly exceeded expectations. She puts this down to excellent student focus and teaching.
Head of Curriculum for Pinehurst Senior College, Mr Chris Wiggin says overall the College achieved the best ever IGCSE results with the greatest ever proportion of students achieving A*, A and B grades.
“Considering our students have a wide range of abilities and we enter all our Year 11 students for eight different subjects, this is a tremendous achievement,” says Mr Wiggin.
The AS results were on par with the previous year’s success; recording an impressive100% pass rate for all AS English subjects (Literature, language and Lang/lit). This was a significant improvement on the previous year’s AS English results with all students sitting AS English meeting the University Entrance literacy criteria.
Pinehurst College AS student Julia Gessler scored 100% in Art & Design; an incredible feat given the strong international competition for this subject. 68% of her fellow Year 12 AS cohort has already achieved their numeracy and literacy requirements for University Entrance, an excellent base for their Year 13 study.
Congratulations to all Pinehurst students and teachers for yet another successful year of results.
