Mid Bays Primary Hockey Result 2014

Author -  Shannon Sager

Pinehurst has done exceptionally well this year to win both the Boys’ and Girls’ Division in the Mid Bays Primary hockey tournament held at the North harbour Hockey Turf. This is an annual event held between our cluster of schools – Browns Bay, Murrays Bay, Pinehill and ourselves.

Although it was threatening to rain and the weather forecast was pretty bleak, the round robin tournament managed to go ahead. The standard of hockey was good and the twenty four games were played in good sporting spirit. A number of parents and relatives supported the event and passed encouraging remarks about the tournament.

All the early morning practices and games during the season have paid dividends with Pinehurst producing some very entertaining and skilful hockey. All in all there were thirty four goals scored by Pinehurst with only three scored against our two teams.

Thank you to Jenny Bindon and Kelly Lindsay for their assistance and support as well as to Katie miller and Carol James for coaching the two sides. We were also very fortunate to have four of our Junior College and college students assist with umpiring duties – thank you to William Page, Jaiden James, Paige Waddel and Frazer Clarke.
