Athletics Results from Friday 7th and Saturday 8th November

Year 9 & 10 Competition Friday 7th November
Pinehurst Boys and Girls teams made up of Yr 8, 9, 10 students competed in the North Harbour Teams Athletics competition last Friday. Unfortunately neither of the Kristin teams we were drawn against turned up to compete. However our Girls had a”friendly” against Rangitoto and our Boys competed with Rosmini and Rangitoto College.

Our students gave a really good account of themselves and produced some excellent performances.
Our Yr. 8 students competed to help sharpen them up for the Yr 7 & 8 North Harbour Zone Day in 2 weeks time and turned in some outstanding performances. Fergus Eadie was outstanding in the 1,000m race being only just beaten into 2nd place, followed not far behind by Felix Glover-Clarke and Harrison Rumney. Devon Alexander produced excellent performances in the shot and discus. Ladhu Van Ruiten was really competitive in the sprints and relay.

Hollie Glover-Clarke produced her best form in the 100m and relay; Maddy Hailes was running well in the 1000m until pulling up lame. Honor Richardson and Maria Kopilevich competed well in the High Jump and Long Jump against strong opposition, and Alexia Grace , Kalee O’Sullivan and Mikayla O’Brien raced strongly in the 300m.
Nick Goeldner ran outstanding races in the 300m and relay, especially in the relay where he ran down 1 of the opposition runners from 20m back. Koa Nelson starred in the Long Jump against some strong Yr 10 competitors from Rosmini and Rangitoto.
An excellent effort by our athletes who were mostly much younger than the opposition.
Mt. Smart Stadium Sat 8th Nov.

Some of our athletes preparing for the NZ Secondary Schools championships in Wanganui on 6th & 7th Dec competed in an open Auckland competition last Saturday at Mt. Smart.
Stella Pearless ran in the 800m where even though feeling dead from exams managed to run into a good 2nd place.
Matt Watson ran really well in coming back from 3 months off with injury to place 2nd in both the 60m and the 100m.
Nick Hailes threw well to place 3rd in the Shot.
Our team to NZ Sec Schools in December has Hollie Glover-Clarke, Alexia Grace, Elizaveth Baroutsos, Stella Pearless, Maddy Hailes, Nick Hailes and Matt Watson competing.
